The meetings are structured around impromptu and prepared speaking, with leadership roles within the structure for those wishing to cultivate those skills. We give feedback, we keep each other engaged, we adapt, and we raise our game.
A vital role! The timekeeper is responsible for making sure everything stays on track and to the schedule - so the meeting can run smoothly.
A great entry point for those wishing to take on some responsibility in running the sessions.
The Meeting Leader will be responsible for overseeing the meeting itself, briefing the membership on the agenda for the evening, before introducing each section's leader - who will then take over.
This is a highly responsible, rewarding role for those wishing to develop their team lead and meeting lead skills.
The Speaking Leader is responsible for running both the 'Off the Top' section, and the 'Main Event' section of the evening.
This is a rewarding role, focusing on encouraging members to step up, and get involved in one or both of the main events of the evening.
During each speaking section, this role will organise the feedback from the selected members, to the speaker - and also summarise the key pieces of advice.
This role develops active listening, empathy and openness, helping to ensure the feedback is positive, focused and relevant.
The members all play a vital role too!
From a little to a lot, each member is there to contribute - this will mean from simply introducing themselves, to playing in several warm-up scenarios, to tackling random questions, to presenting a full speech - and providing feedback for others, as they step up too.
Your friendly neighbourhood Facilitator will participate in a number of ways too, from taking on one of the roles mentioned, to just nudging things along and ensuring everyone is getting the most from the session.
